ICT as Medium for Advocacy
Because of Information and Communication and Technology(ICT) educational methodologies have changed a lot. When I was in grade school, our teachers taught us manually. They used chalk for the blackboard, marker pen for the whiteboard, books they read for us and presenting their visual aids in manila paper. Education was very slow when I was in grade school.
But now that I am in Senior High School everything suddenly changed. Almost everything that my teacher use in teaching is high tech. Education is fast, we learn a lot and our lessons end quickly.
The singing of national anthem
-back then the singing of the national anthem has a conductor, need to memorize the song and forming a line. Now the singing of the national anthem uses audio/speakers, projector and no conductor. There is no need to memorize the song because the lyrics can be seen in the projector.
-before ICT exist, making a concept note was very difficult. In making a concept note, only typewriter is used. When you make a mistake in typing everything is wrong, because it can no longer be deleted. You need to be careful in typing. But now that modern technologies exist, it is easy to make a concept note, you can pass the concept note quickly using the internet, mobile phones, tablets, laptops and etc. You can even edit and delete the wrong of those letters or spellings when typing.
-presenting visual aids before ICT exist uses a manila paper or any other materials for the students able to understand the lessons or the topic that presented by the teachers, they put their best effort to get the attention of their students and to have an interest for their subjects. When ICT exist making visual aids has been easy for teachers to present their lessons or topics, because they are already using PowerPoint and put some text, graphics, images, audio, video and animation to make their presentation pleasant. Not only in teachers, it has also made it easier for students to do their projects and reporting by using microsoft word and present their visual aids in PowerPoint.
-the class record of the teachers before ICT exist was that they only bought at the book store or at the store. They use the class record book and pen they bought to check the attendance and grades of their students. Grade computing is slow due to teachers manually computing their students' grades. But now that ICT exist they use excel to facilitate the computation of grades and checking the attendance of their students.
-the word "class dismissed" is one of the favorites of students to hear from their teachers, because it is a sign that the class is over or going home. Before ICT exist, this is what teachers used to say so that students know that the class is over. When ICT exist, teachers no longer need to speak "class dismissed" because what is used now is a bell where just one click and when you hear it the class is done.
-before ICT exist, it was very difficult to answer assignments and do projects, it was difficult to think of an answer and how to start the project, it was still necessary to think and find an answer in the book and go to the library just to answer assignment and accomplish the project. It is difficult and long before the assignment and the research are completed, because the search for the answer is manual. But now that ICT exist, it is not difficult to find an answer because using the internet and mobile phones you can find the answer in assignments and research. ICT has been of great help to educational methodology and to everyone, as it has made everything easier.
